DRIVE YOUR CAR ON VIR - A 20 MINUTE SESSION WILL SUPPORT OUR LOCAL RONALD McDONALD HOUSES THROUGHOUT NORTH CAROLINA!

When: Friday, April 1st, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Where: Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA (America's Motorsport Resort at Virginia International Raceway)

Why: The purpose is to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald Houses in North Carolina and Southwest Virginia – 6 houses in all. As you may know, the Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving treatment from nearby hospitals for serious illnesses. There is no cost for those families to stay in the Ronald McDonald Houses, and the duration of their stay can range from a few days to several years.

How: Each charity lap (20 min each) costs $25.00 and all proceeds will be donated to the Charity – no pre-registration is required. Also, participants will be allowed to drive on the highly acclaimed VIR road course (North Course) for approximately 20 minutes per session. This is not racing. So, any car that is in good mechanical condition is permitted on the course. You can buy as many charity laps as you would like. Also, the Arial Atom manufacturer will be conducting hot laps for $10 per lap in their race car.

I should also mention that this event is being publicized with Ronald McDonald House Charity supporters and board members throughout NC and SW VA, as well as a number of local car clubs. McDonald’s is hoping for a great collection of cars and drivers at the event and this is our opportunity to bring support to an outstanding local organization, for an excellent cause.

Depending upon the level of interest our club generates, it is very possible that we could meet at a designated McDonald’s store, and caravan to VIR. Anyone in the Triangle area who plan on attending this event could meet at the designated McDonald’s and join our Viper caravan to VIR. Once at the track, we could arrange our cars on the Paddock and hold a Viper car show for the kids in attendance. We would depart the designated McDonald’s store at 9am and be at VIR until ~2pm. Finally, you do not have to participate in the charity laps to support this event.

For McDonald’s to publicize and plan, we will need to know your level of interest and commitment by March 15th. Please reply to this post or send an email directly to me at: [email protected]

Below is a copy of the VIR Press Release.

Thanks.

All:

This event is for a really good cause and would be a lot of fun at the same time. If we do not generate club interest in advance we will have to eliminate the caravan from Raleigh to the track. We could still support this effort while at the track though so please let me know if there is any interest. You will see more publicity throughout our region in the next two weeks.

Thanks
