it stops about 1/4" from the top and there is a clunk sound. Anyone know what it may be?

I know about the plastic clip breaking on the regulator, but everything works fine and it goes up and down. Just when you get to the top there is a small clunk and it stops 1/4" from the top.

Inside the metal cover of the regulator is the gear winding, you may have broken a tooth? I would remove the door panel and spray a bit of lube on the window shuttle and track first, if it still does not go all the way up you will have to remove the regulator assembly from the door and carefully drill off the top of the rivet holding the metal cover. Another thing which might help is to get a long thin piece of metal (screwdriver), put the end of the screwdriver on the metal cover, the other end to your ear, get someone else to operate the window switch ans listen to the gearing? You may hear something irregular ;)

If you do have to drill off the top of the rivet, be careful not to drill off too much. You then need to drill a smaller hole into the center of the rivet, get a small self tapping screw and washer and carefully cut a partial thread into the end. For added bite secure with a bit of loctite after replacing the metal cover.
