Oh...and where is "here" for you? Someone might be able to point you in the right direction to another shop if you are looking for options.

Have you had them check the clutch fluid. It is amazing how many Vipers go in for a bad clutch when all they need is clutch fluid replaced. Not uncommon for an older Viper to be low and dark in color as many shops fail to even check it. Might save you a clutch, and not too hard to find out.

Here's a list of additional components to be inspected at time of clutch service.

When replacing clutch and pressure plate inspect:

    Flywheel for flatness:
:Run straight edge across flywheel and should have .012 or less taper
    :Smearing, Hot-spotting should be minimal
    :Exceeding above conditions requires replacement
:When replacing flywheel use new flywheel crank bolts

    Pilot bearing:
    :Inspect & replace if marginal
    :Service with high temp grease

Hub release bearing (HRB) / Slave cylinder:
:Replace at time of clutch serivce (If low mileage inspect slave cylinder & replace release bearing only)
    :Thouroughly bleed system

    Master cylinder:
    :Inspect if marginal replace

    Inspect T-56 / TR-6060
    :Inspect shifter
:Inspect rear main seal , if marginal replace
    :Service trans fluid

    Engine rear main seal:
    :Inspect for oil leaks
:If marginal good time to replace

Driveline universal joint straps & bolts:
    :Replace

Use Mopar or equivalent aftermarket parts and torque all components to factory specs:

These are the basic components to be inspected and/or replaced during your Viper's next clutch change. As you can see your parts list and pricing may be a bit more than origianlly expected. I hope this helps out a bit.

Note, if the flywheel cannot be cleaned up with fine sandpaper then replace it. Do not turn the flywheel.

DC brings up a valid point on the current OE and after market flywheels that are avaliable for the Viper. We've listened, heard and responded at BBG to this need by engineering all of our Viper single, dual and triple disc clutch kits to be 100% servicable, which means you can and should resurface the flywheel at time of rebuild.. We have factored these service tolerances into our designs right from the start to produce a high qualty product for your Viper. An example is our ACR-X clutch kit, we're currently rebuilding units for the SRT Viper Cup Race Series with excellent success. As specialist in Viper clutch systems we know by experience that not all flywheels and clutch discs are created equal, so no compromise is our philosophy when it comes to building kits for the Viper and SRT vehicles..

Pictured below is an example of a rebuilt ACR-X clutch kit (note: the flywheel has ran the entire 2011 DVC race season, which was required of us from Dodge Motorsports). I hope information like this helps because if you do your homework up front you'll make well informed purchase investments when serivcing or upgrading your Viper's next clutch set-up..

There are numerous clutch options depending on your power output. We are not allowed to advertise here but check the Vendor section and new products area, you should find several options from mild to wild. Call the vendor's and get an opinion.
