IN/KY VCA Member (and NASA Racer) Ray Sweers invites you to attend a very special event at his race shop...with a dyno tuner across the street !!

Ray wrote: "I verified with the owner of Accelerators (Todd Hines) that we are good to go for Saturday May 19th with a "rain date" of the 26th. I believe that if the weather report on the Friday before shows a 30% or greater chance of rain then we would shift to the rain date.

The basics of our plan is simply to have folks gather at my race shop (4717 Wyland Dr., Elkhart, IN 46516) any time they wish after 10:00 AM. I figure we can wrap things up by 5:00 PM. I will cater in lunch at noon (chicken, chips, drinks, etc.) at no charge for anyone. I will also offer a free skip shift module (we make them here at Positron) to anyone who might want one and install it here. I will have two lifts open at my shop.

Accelerators has several lifts including the one for the dyno. Todd will charge $75 for three pulls and if folks wanted to, they could schedule a "tuning session" at a later date whereby their ECU could be programmed to work perfectly with their engine. People who have headers, smooth tubes and high flow filters can benefit from such a tune where air/fuel and timing parameters are dialed in. Folks who have an aftermarket cam or head work absolutely should want a tuning session. Accelerators is a full blown service center and can do pretty much anything to a Viper. They have installed super chargers on Vipers in the past and they have done a bunch of stuff on my cars including alignments.

But, of course the focus of the event is really just to meet people and exchange Viper information. To support my racing program, I have amassed a vast number of Viper contacts for just about anything a person could be looking for. I would be happy to help folks find just about any Viper part they might be looking for.

If people have special needs for their Viper and it could be done at this event, then we could address this in advance. If they want to have their fluids changed or checked this can be done. People could bring their own stuff or we could be sure to have what they want on hand. People could get a nice chance just to look under their Vipers if they wish. It surprises me just how many folks never get to see the underneath of their cars !

We would like to extend this invitation to the Illinois VCA, Motor City Viper Owners (VCA), and Ohio VCA Members as well.

In fact...ALL VCA Members AND Viper Owners will be welcomed.

We want to encourage folks with questions/comments/suggestions to e-mail ME for additional info: [email protected]

PLEASE RSVP for this event to: [email protected] or by telephone

Watch for more details in the near future !!

Looking forward to seeing everyone,

Ray Sweers"

Hey Steve:

All systems remain a go for the 19th of May. In addition to food, dyno and fun we have added a music DJ, a photographer, a police officer to watch over things and we will have a police escorted 50 minute drive through downtown Elkhart, Indiana along the beautiful St. Joseph river. Hopefully we can stop and get a nice group shot. If all goes well the Viper magazine may put a little blurb on our gathering in the magazine. Just need a few more folks to dial this event into their schedules ! Please consider participating and give me a shout so I can put you on our roster: [email protected]
Thanks, Ray Sweers

I have had the pleasure of meeting Ray and his brother at the track a few times, then again last week at his garage! Can I say...."UNBELIEVABLE???!!!!"

Ray was kind enough to stop his busy day and have his mechanic 'review' my Viper, offer suggestions and fix a few things on the SPOT....then hooked me up with a shop to remove my cats;) Ray is DA MAN!!!!

Everywhere I turned walking around his garage there was a Viper! Here's a few sneak pics for those attending this amazing day on Sat., May 19th:

This sounds like a great event however we will not be able to attend. I will be at Indianapolis Raceway Park taking care of the #2 Banjo USAC Silver Crown car. If any of you are not going on this trip and want something to do that evening come out to IRP and take in a Sliver Crown race.

Dropped by Putnam Park today...the Sweers Brothers are giving the NASA crowd a good show. Could not stay long...but fun to see so many interesting cars there.

I'm sure there will be much routine maintenance work going on in the shop this coming week !!

What a great day to meet up with all my old and new Viper friends! I want to thank Ray and Dewey for their hospitality. They put a lot of effort into this event and it showed. Where else can you go and be treated to lunch, door prizes, a hand car wash by Ray himself, and to top it all off, a police escorted cruise through the city and country side. I am already looking forward to next years event!

Hey Andrew: Nice pictures. Something tells me this wasn't your first time behind the camera ! Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

I want to thank everyone for joining us in what I hope we will refer to as our first annual Elkhart gathering. Next year in mid May I plan to do it again. I also want to thank Todd Hines and his crew at Accelerators for the fine dyno pulls they did all day. And, of course, I want to thank the city of Elkhart for the perfectly guided tour through downtown and the river area. They did a great job of stopping traffic and keeping us all together. I'm sure that lots of folks here in the Elkhart area got a big kick out of seeing a stream of multi colored Vipers moving throught the streets. I know I did !

My son and I had a great time, and Ray, your hospitality was absolutely unmatched. Mucho thanks to the Accelerator's guys for opening up the shop on a Saturday and great to get my car dyno'd! We really had a blast and it was great to meet some of the IN VCA.

One huge factor of when I was looking at Vipers was the culture. I've never really been involved in a car club before, and I have seen nothing but friendliness and open arms at every event.

Andrew, thanks for taking all your pics... I do think the above is the best one ever, but I'm a little biased ;)

We also hit a couple Wisconsin-bound IL members in Schaumburg on the way home Sunday and ran with them for a bit. good times all around!
