just picked up a 2001 gts and ive noticed when i put the car into neutral while rolling the idle stays between 1500-1250 rpm until i drop below 20 mph, then it returns to about 700, is this normal?

congrats on your new viper :drive:

no not normal in that it should not happen :eater:

yes normal in that is is a common issue :omg:

look at these:

if you search you will find other threads on the issue

i have been living with mine for quite a while, and will fix it someday, but it is, like yours, the "good" kind of high idle - the kind that goes down when below xx mph.

peace

Its been so long since mine operated without the AEM that its hard to remember, but I think stock PCM's hold revs high until you come close to stopping and then drops down. This helps keep revs up in case you're just looking for a gear....good for autoX and road racing....and spirited on-ramp activity. Can't remember how high is too high, but I think that overall dynamic is correct though.
