Replacing rear wheel stud - 93

I need to replace a broken wheel stud on the rear of my 93, I got the old one out, but it doesn't look like I can get the new one in without having to remove the rear bearing assembly and then splitting that to get at the flange.
Anyone ever do this on the car?? any tricks?
