Hello everyone! I recently bought my first Viper a 1994 with just over 36,000 miles on it. The car is basically very sound and runs great. I do have some rear axle noise it sounds like the outboard drivers side cv joint is clicking when you first start off from a dead stop. Also I can hear some lifter/rocker arm clicking. Are there any local shops you guys would recommend?

We have 3 top rated independent Viper mechanics that most of the San Diego guys go to.

Each seems to have their own specialities and following, but any of them would be good for your issue.

Randy Begin near North Park.

Todd or Mike in Temecula area.

In addition Jack Powell Dodge has a pretty good certified ViperTech in Escondido.

What part of down are you in.

Are you a club member. Most give discounts for VCA membership.

Welcome to the Hood. I live just up the road from you in Rancho Bernardo.

Many of our guys were out in Palm Springs yesterday, doing a joint autocross with the Corvette Club.

Be sure to check out www.socalviper.org. In the forums you will see all the upcoming events.

On April 6th you can meet all the local people at Richard's run which will start out at the Carlsbad Cars & Coffee. We will then cruise the backcountry and end up at a Casino for lunch.

Welcome to the Viper Nation.

Welcome to the Club Rex !!
We look forward to seeing/meeting you at our next event which, as Paul has already posted, is Richard's Run. This will be a great little cruise and we have lots of great members down in SD.

See you soon,
Lance

Thanks everyone for the advice I'll be on the phone this morning with one of those guys to see what I have to do to get my phantom noises checked out. I saw Richard's run on the website and I plan on being there. Another easy question for you guys. Monday I had 4 new PS2's put on the guy put 40 psi in the tires which I thought was a little high!!!??? What do you guys run in yours? They had serious problems just mounting them that's what led to my decision to reach out and find some competent help. Thanks again and I'll be seeing all of you soon.

Many tire shops put in extra pressure to fully seat the tires on the rims. They are supposed to bleed them back down, but often they leave them.

As Lance says, 29 lbs. seems to be the magic, go to pressure for Vipers.

Nothing feels as good as fresh tires on a Viper.

Thank You! You're right about how new tires feel. It totally transformed this car. The old tires besides being 80% gone were well over 5 years old the fronts had cracks in the tread the backs were nearly slick. Basically a dangerous situation. You could literally break the backend loose at any speed. Which reminds me. Has any of you experienced this? Making a hard left turn and have gas slosh out the top of the filler neck? I had this happen yesterday after I filled it up. I think the cap is bad I saw and smelled a small amount of fuel behind the gas door. Very annoying all most as much as the skip shift which I'm happy to say I will be deleting next week. Thanks again guys.

Thanks Marv that was perfect timing because its on my to do list for today! It seems like every single time I'm out driving that thing gets me! I wanted to have it disabled before Richard's run tomorrow. Thanks again!
