I think that Jeff Gordon Camaro test drive commercial has em all scared Bob! I went down to my local dealer with my HANS device and helmet (in a bag) and they wouldn't even look at me. I just wanted to compare headroom with helmet on. LOL

I liked the Gen V from the moment I saw it. The T/A just elevates my desire another step. It's really a good looking car, in the Viper tradition.

Great shot of the interior, and orange accent looks great. Can you comment on your impression of how the TA interior looks and feels compared to a normal SRT, or a GTS with its leather and different bezels and such? Does it still look and feel fairly high-end to you?

It looks and feels very high end and everyone who has seen it has commented on how good the interior looks. As of now, about 40 people have seen it up close. I cannot emphacize enough that the fit and finish of the car - both exterior and interior is perfect.

That's just great to hear, and a relief. Mine will get delivered to the dealer in the middle of winter up here unfortunately, and may have to sit there for a few weeks or rent an enclosed trailer. Thanks for the feedback, and please share your experiences with it. Not many of these cars are going to be available, and those that want one are going to need to decide that quickly.

It is purely and simply a fantastic car for the performance enthusiast. If the buying public for this type of car woke up and realized what a screaming bargain it is, supply and demand would take over and the price would sky rocket. What you need to do when you get your car is put it on a transporter and take it down to Florida for a winter vacation so you can enjoy it. In fact, maybe you can arrange with your dealer and SRT to have it delivered to a dealer in Florida so you only have to transport it one way.

I don't think that comes easily because most are conditioned to being able to buy American supercar performance for under $100k, and because they somewhat value the Viper according to Vette pricing because of similar performance and origin. Making the jump to supercar quality and exclusivity is something else..

You are right but if they would take a real hard look at the new vette versus the Viper there really is no valid comparison on a number of levels. The interior of my TA is Ferrari level or better. Definitely better than a McClaren. The body design is an inspired work of art and as you can see the TA has that "bad boy" look. The amount of carbon fiber in the car is incredible. The entire clam shell hood in addition to other components and the trim pieces. Even the X brace. The aircraft foamed aluminum doors are lighter than previous gens but close firmly - the sound of closing is right.

Ralph has said that there is far more to the car than just its performance. I did not really understand what he was saying until now after having thoroughly inspected it and driven it a bit more than 100 miles. It is still a Viper but a very, very different one. It is a Viper that shows the effect of friendly interfamily sibling rivalry and, at the same time, some cooperation regarding vendors and manufacturing technique and discipline between SRT and Ferrari.

That's fantastic Bob!! Congrats. After driving four tracks and 5,000 miles it just keeps getting better. You're going to love it at the road course. Take your time finding its high limits, enjoy the journey.

Congrats on the purchase, I'm really wanting the orange one. After selling my '01 sapphire/silver GTS several years ago
I find this one the only one I would want, besides a sapphire/silver stripe ACR.
I saw this one online for 112K in Jacksonville, Fl. P.M. if you want the info.

Looks like you would have to get your own financing as they're trying to burn both ends of the candle with their caveat on changing the interest rate (read details).

That is one Bad Ass looking Viper.I had all my Vipers worked on at University Dodge. The tect was excellent, think name was John.Bring it to the Street Car Drags at Palm Beach (1/25)and well line up my 14 Turbo S with it,that is of course, if they are broke in by then.I am not doing so well, only 150 miles on the TS.In my opinion, the black TA are the best Gen.5 out so far.. Good Luck with your new ride...

Hi. Thanks for your kind words. The tech's name is Ray. He is the tall fellow with the pony tail.

The TA is a road course focused car. It is not a drag racer. But if you want to bring your Porsche down to one of the track days at Homestead Speedway once it is broken in we could get a rough idea of how the two cars compare in the TA's mission environment. Your Porsche is going to be a point and shoot quarter mile car just like your last one. So it should do 10.8 or better. I like drag racing alot but until you get to at least the Supergas class level, the skill set needed for road racing is considerably greater.

With a point and shoot car below the Supergas level, it is basically power brake or use the launch control; launch; and the car does the rest. My supercharged Jeep is like that. Other than reducing reaction time, there is not much to it other than the gonads to make the run.

I have not decided what I am bringing on the 26th. Maybe the truck. Maybe the Jeep. But I will be there. It is always a fun time with good people.

You are correct, Ray is his name. I really liked him. He is very attention to detail. My 2011 TS ran 10.80s and this new one is much faster. It should do 10.50/60s...I will, for sure join you in Homestead in the future to track the TS with ya for fun. Introduce yourself to me at PB on the 25th if you go and bring the Snake ,even if you do not run it..

Just one bad thing about that date, the 24 of Daytona is the same day and Porsche gives me full excess tickets to the race and feeds us all day and night long(Beer Also)....Choices...

The event is on Sunday the 26th. Yes. Ray is a fanatic. He is a former electronic warfare specialist and really knows his way around SRT products. It has to be just right. When he installed the supercharger kit on my Jeep, he actually improved upon the installation instructions and made it an even cleaner install. He built the supercharged Challenger I just traded in. The car looks OEM. It will be a screaming buy for the lucky purchaser. It is an 11 second car. It won a gold plaque at last springs Mopar car show at University.

Ray will be maintaining my TA. I trust him completely.

Awesome! Congrats on the first black TA that I am aware of.Any idea why SRT didn't use the orange stitching on the steering wheel like the some of the original photos of the car? It was a nice touch.

I would guess that they did not put the stitching on the steering wheel because it would create a raised surface on the edge that would be uncomfortable and that it would quickly get dirty during daily driving from dirt and sweat from ungloved hands which also might cause the thread to deteriorate.

Thanks Euch. The car is an incredible piece of engineering and design. It handles extraordinarily well. I am getting a kick out of using the voice activated features. I saw my old car today and whoever gets that car will be getting a well balanced beast at a very reasonable price that still has an extended warranty on it. Its at University Dodge.

Give them a call. I do not know what they are asking but it will be a steal. The original cost of the car plus the mods was more than 65K. If you buy it, have it serviced by Ray. It is his pride and joy.
