So I went to the track for the first time last night. It was close to 90 degrees out with ok track prep I guess. My car is a 96 GTS with full exhaust and 3.55 gears. I made a total of 4 runs. This was my first time at the track with the Viper and my first time trying to launch hard from a stop. Without more delay here are my slip times.
1. 60 ft. 2.009 330 ft 5.487 1/8. 8.210 Mph. 91.74 Spun first so just did stoplight launches (ease out then nail it) for the rest of my passes. 2. 60 ft. 1.968 330 ft. 5.339 1/8. 8.046 Mph 92.58 3. 60 ft. 1.986 330 ft. 5.361 1/8. 8.056 Mph. 92.84 4. 60 ft. 1.952 330 ft 5.319 1/8. 8.020 Mph. 92.60 All runs were on my 20" 345 nitto invos with 32psi. Just wanted some opinions on how I did and what you all think the car has left in it if I put a good set og slicks on it. Also any advice on how to run would be great. Any tips and or tricks. Hope my times didn't disapoint but I was the only Viper there and although I didn't run the fastest times I still managed to steal the show. |

No car ran great. Same gas and all so maybe that hesitation was just some fluke due to the heat. One other note to make on my runs is that with the 3.55s I was crossing the 1/8th in third gear at about 5800-5900 rpms.

That's because of the 20"/345's. With 18"/335's, I have to get into 4th.

What do you run with the 18s. Also its got to suck to have to shift right before the finish.

I'm thinking a D/R might be a taller tire, so you might be OK on the stock rims. Check the height of your setup compared to the height of the DR's. Probably be in the 26-26.5" range? My 18"/335 are 25.5" (I think). It's amazing what 1" can do to trap speed
And yes, it suck's shifting to 4th in 1/8!-Chip

Do you not want anyone to know what your times were or are you going to couph them up along with mod list. I would really apreciate something to compare to. The search doesn't help much.

From last year, best I can remember: 1.82/60', 7.67@94 mph in 1/8 mi. K/N's, smooth tubes, H/S's, B & B's, no cats, 3:55 rear. Sorry, I missed that part of question
. Added a 6.5lb Roe in April.

I think the HS's added about 25hp, the headers/exhaust about 20hp. Car idles a little "lopier" with the rockers. Sean Roe said the roller rockers are one of the best mods you can do. about $750-800. I agree! If you let air out of your tires, make sure you have access to add it back. Wouldn't want to drive too far with 22 lbs of air in tires

I agree with Chip. Try lowering the rear tire pressure to 21psi and see if that helps. Also, when you take off, pretend there's a cop close by. You want to go fast, but not so fast as to squeal the tires. Your trap speed indicates mid-upper 7sec. Good luck!
